Our facilities are based at the University of Wollongong, Australia. The sample preparation and biochemistry laboratory is at the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute. Cry electron microscopy is in the Facility of Science, Medicine and Health, while Mass spectrometry and X-ray crystallography are located in the School of Chemistry.

Located in IHMRI on level 3, we have all the resources we need for both lipid extraction and protein chemistry. Here, we perform lipid extractions from a range of tissues and fluid prepare samples for analysis. On the protein side, we use gel electrophoresis, western blotting equipment and other protein analysis tools.
CRYO ELECTRON MICROSCOPY FACILITY
Newly established within the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health, the Cryo-EM facility currently houses a FEI-Thermo Titan Arctic 200 kV cryo-EM, as well as a full equiped cryo preparation lab including an FEI vitrobot. Over 2018, a FEI-Thermo Titan Krios 300 kV cryo-EM and a FEI T12 Tecnai 120kV microscope will be installed.
Located in IHMRI on level 2, here we purify human native protein directly from human fluid using a variety of ion exchange and hydrophobic interaction chromatography columns as well as size exclusion columns of different size and media.
The MSURRF facility at the University of Wollongong houses 10 mass spectrometers, including a Thermo Fusion LC-MS and two ABSCIEX Qtrap 5500 instruments. One Qtrap 5500 is enabled with a Advion Nanomate for direct infusions MS/MS, while the second is modified for OzID gas-phase chemistry.
The University of Wollongong X-ray home source for protein crystallography is fully equiped with a Rigaku MicroMax-007 HF rotating anode X-ray generator equipped with a Mar345dtb image plate detector and Oxford cryosystem.
